Why RAW Footage is so Important

If there is one addition that you must have when booking wedding videography or photography it is RAW Footage. This is a external hard drive that houses all the clips or images captured on your wedding day. Given a 3-5 minute, 5-7 minute or 7-10 minute wedding film or 150/500 Digital Image Gallery you can only use so much footage. So its very common that some things are left out. But down the road of your marriage and the journey of life you never know how important other clips or images of family members and significant moments will actually be until they present themselves. 

I always tell the story of a bride that I had, who was gifted wedding videography from a family friend. At the time of booking I explained that she should purchase RAW Footage because of its value and the package’s film that the couple would be receiving is a 3-5 minute wedding Highlight film. Long story short, the family friend purchased the addition. When I arrived the bride was so shocked and thrilled. To add her dad did a surprise First Look with her before walking her down the isle and giving her away. He also gave a phenomenal toast during the reception and had a very engaging emotional Father Daughter dance. While these where significant moments, there was only so much space within her wedding film to feature all these moments.

While she was left with an amazing wedding film that encompassed the whole day and allowed her to relive her wedding day, it could do only so much for what was in store. Her father suffered a stroke shortly after her wedding and unfortunately passed. In going through her wedding package she found her hard drive. Not really knowing what it was she plugged it in and was shocked. The RAW Footage included her full First Look with her father, her entire Wedding Ceremony, his full Toast and their Father Daughter Dance. 

She told me it was the RAW Footage the helped her to make it through such a tough time in her life loosing her father. To be able to hear his words in full, relive those significant moments in full and just feel the emotion  in her life on such a big day was bar to none. 

RAW Footage should be something that you immediately add to your wedding package as it contained everything captured form your wedding day in its entirety. As well you never know whats going to happen in life and a moment significant as your wedding you want to be sure that those moments can live forever and can be relived whenever you want.
